How does a Nuclear Power Plant Work?

Simply put a nuclear reactor uses uranium rods to boil water and produce steam. The steam drives large turbines that produce electricity. Uranium is radioactive and extremely hot. If left alone the uranium would burn through the crust of the planet so rods of graphite are used to control the nuclear reaction within the uranium and prevent a meltdown.
