Can Ants Live Underwater?

Glad you asked...
Ants cannot live underwater because they are land creatures and need air to breath. Just like humans ants have to breath air and they can't do it underwater.

Then again, this answer might help you...

Actually yes! There is a species of ant that can live under water and it's called the polyrhachis sokolova and lives in the Australian mangrove swamps. Since, they don't have gills, they breath through air bubbles or trapped pockets of air underneath the water.
