Acid rain will stop when pollutants are no longer being dispersed into the atmosphere. Many countries have gone a long way toward that goal by limiting the amount of emissions put out by cars and manufacturing companies.

Acid rain can be stopped if our governments are forced to apply tougher restrictions on emission control. Alternative forms of fuel, such as wind-generated electricity, would also help to clear the air in a minimum amount of time.
