What Kind of Mountain is Mount Everest?

Glad you asked...
Mount Everest is in the class called a 'fold' mountain. What that means is it was created due to the collision of tectonic plates within the earth. As one plate slides beneath the other, together they cause an uplift in the surface above them, then fold into themselves creating a mountain.
